Adolescent Therapy

I provide evidence-based therapy for adolescents, helping them navigate life’s challenges, manage stress, and foster personal growth with a compassionate and goal-oriented approach.

Anxiety, OCD and Depression

I specialize in the treatment of a range of anxiety, panic, OCD, and depressive disorders in adolescents. Therapy typically focuses on equipping individuals with skills to manage the daily stressors of school, social relationships, and family responsibilities, all of which can significantly impact mental health.

Body Image and Self Esteem

Body image and self-esteem are central aspects of adolescent development, deeply influencing how young people view themselves and their relationships with others. During this time, adolescents may become more aware of societal beauty standards, peer comparisons, and the physical changes occurring in their own bodies. These factors can contribute to fluctuations in self-esteem, with some teens struggling with negative body image or feelings of inadequacy. Supportive environments that encourage self-acceptance and challenge unrealistic ideals can help adolescents develop a more positive and balanced relationship with their bodies.

Identity Formation

Identity formation is an incredible process during adolescence, as people begin to explore and define who they are in relation to their values, beliefs, and the world around them. This period of self-discovery involves navigating personal, social, and cultural influences while making decisions about career paths, relationships, and life goals. Adolescents may experience a sense of confusion or internal conflict as they try on different identities and roles. Support from family, peers, and mentors can play a significant role in helping adolescents build a strong, authentic sense of self, providing the foundation for emotional well-being and future growth

Adolescent Therapy FAQs

  • Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy for adolescents. At the start of treatment, I ensure that both the client and their parent or guardian understand that everything discussed in our sessions remains private and will not be shared with the parents. The only exception to this confidentiality is if there are concerns regarding self-harm or safety. In such cases, I inform the client that their parent will be involved in the development of a safety plan to ensure their well-being.

  • Parents are welcome to share information with me that they believe is relevant for their child’s treatment. However, I always ensure that the client is informed if a parent has reached out, and I communicate the nature of the contact with them directly, maintaining transparency and trust in the therapeutic process.
